Hi Luuk, welcome to the team! Can you tell us more about your background?
My name is Luuk, I’m 24 years old. I have just graduated as a Data Scientist from the Jheronimus Academy of Data Science in Den Bosch. My background before starting my master’s in Data Science was in Innovation Management and Entrepreneurship. I have applied that knowledge in jobs during my studies as a junior innovation consultant and as a business development intern at an incubator in South Africa.
Now, as Machine Learning Engineer at Enjins, I want to combine that knowledge of the innovation process with all my new skills as an engineer to actually get my hands dirty with data and get some real innovation done.
Apart from those things I do professionally, I really like distance running. Also, I have recently picked up cycling and I have been struggling to learn how to swim properly. At some point, I may try my hand at triathlon.
How was your first day at Enjins?
Very exciting of course! I tend to really like the energy and vibe of young and small companies, and Enjins has that in spades! Enjins has a great bunch of young and ambitious engineers who gave me a very warm welcome, even if I could only meet most of them over a video call. I think there is a lot I can learn from them, and they seem nice enough to teach me.
What is your motto in life?
A motto? Wow, I don’t think I’ve ever really defined a motto for myself. Let me quickly think of something… It seems hard to capture my purpose in life in a single sentence, so I think I will opt for a meta-motto by saying: “Try to live a life that cannot be captured in a motto.” Does that work? Other than that, I just try to enjoy the things that come my way and to be interested in the world around me. Very cliché, but I guess clichés exist for a reason.
